Driven to Collaborate: Inside Uber's Partnership with Barclays, and How It Engages Customers Both In and Out of the App

Launching a co-branded credit card is an age-old tactic in the customer loyalty playbook. In today’s age of technology, however, the potential for engagement opportunities within these programs has skyrocketed.
Colin Mooney, Barclays Head of Product Development, Insights & Customer Loyalty & Kirsten Osland, Head of the Uber Partnership at Barclays will present one such case study at Loyalty Expo, in which the company worked in tandem with Uber to create a co-branded card targeted at the brand’s most frequent users. Through an advantageous value proposition and, perhaps more importantly, a seamless integration into the Uber mobile app, the card achieved success far beyond initial forecasts. By integrating a streamlined value offering into an app that users were already well-acquainted with, Uber and Barclays leveraged the mobile space to reach customers how and where they were already looking to engage.
Key Takeaways:
- The significance of customer insight in building an initial foundation on which to build a program
- Perspective on how to match customer expectations heightened by key brands across all verticals
- A look inside the unique partnership between Barclays and Uber
